The National Basketball Association is the professional basketball league in North America. This league have thirty franchise member teams, twenty-nine of them are located in the United States and one in Canada. The league was found in New York City on June 6, 1946 as Basketball Association of America but in 1949 was changed to National Basketball Association.  At first there were only 17 teams with a mix of small and big city franchises but by 1954 there were only 8 which was the Knicks, Celtics, Warriors, Lakers, Kings, Pistons, and the 76ers. As the years went teams move to bigger cities and eventually became 30 teams. The teams are split up into divisions east and west. There are 82 games in a NBA season with the playoffs being the best 8 teams in the east and west in a 7 games series with the first team to 4 games wining. The commissioner of the NBA is David Stern, he is in charged of everything so for example if 2 teams wants to make a trade David Stern have to know before anything goes down.
